KRISTIN
FARMER Founder/Advisory Council Kristin began her career as a special education teacher in a San Diego elementary school and was one of the first teachers in Southern California to set the standards for how children with autism should be taught in the school, home and community. |

In order to raise awareness of autism in the community and to provide ACES services to families unable to sustain the significant financial burdens of supporting long term needs of a child with developmental disabilities, Kristin then founded La Casa Center for Autism in 2003, along with Susan and Chad Mooney. This non-profit foundation raises funds to provide programs that foster the independent lifestyles of individuals with autism and support their families through educational and recreational programs and other services. Future plans for La Casa
Center for Autism encompass job training and the building of a campus,
living center and recreational center for individuals with special needs. |
